Emotional Regulation

If you feel things deeply or describe yourself as a “highly sensitive person,” your emotional intensity is not a flaw—it’s a superpower. It may feel overwhelming at times, but together we can help you understand and work with your emotions instead of feeling ruled by them. In therapy, we’ll focus on building tools to navigate big feelings, set and hold boundaries, and listen to what your body is trying to tell you before it reaches a breaking point. Over time, you’ll learn to move through emotional waves with more calm, clarity, and self-compassion, so you can feel proud of the way you respond to yourself and others.

In our work together, we don’t just talk about your emotions—we practice new ways of relating to them. Using CBT, we gently notice and challenge unhelpful thoughts that fuel anxiety, shame, or overwhelm, while DBT skills help you ride out intense feelings with more stability, grounding, and choice. Through narrative therapy, we explore the stories you’ve carried about being “too much” or “too sensitive” and begin to rewrite them in a way that honors your sensitivity as strength. With somatic therapy and mindfulness, we tune into your body’s signals, practice calming your nervous system, and build rituals that help you feel more present, regulated, and connected to yourself.
